Issues brought to Coaching

There is no such thing as a 'typical' coaching agenda.  We are all different.

As critical as it is, agreeing the coaching agenda at the beginning of the coaching process isn't always easy.  It is common for issues to be long standing.  It is therefore unsurprising that it can be difficult for Clients to 'unpick' and express what has become an inaccessible mass of issues and concerns.

Even at this early stage in the process, Clients get immense relief from being able to differentiate and label those issues which they really want to tackle. Clarity equals choice; choice leads to action.

Most agenda will have a mix of practical and emotional content.  Here are some examples of issues brought to coaching:

  • Moving from an operational to a more strategic role.  Letting go of the day to day work as the business grows. Learning to delegate
  • Understanding and developing leadership skills
  • Improving management style
  • Dealing with emotions (anxiety, frustration, resentment etc.)
  • Resolving dilemmas
  • Improving confidence and self belief (many business leaders struggle with self belief and fear of failure)
  • Dealing with conflict at work, with colleagues, peers, boss, Clients etc.
  • Dealing with relationship problems, such as, business partners, difficult Clients etc.
  • The need to have someone independent and confidential to confide in
  • Dealing with change following restructuring/mergers & acquisitions
  • Developing emotional intelligence (self awareness, relationship management etc.)
  • Reducing stress
  • Coping with high work volumes; time management and work/life balance
